The need for experienced and knowledgeable solar service technicians is growing quickly to keep pace with residential solar deployment. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the residential solar market experienced its 6th consecutive record year in 2022, growing 40% over 2021 with 5.9 GW installed. That is a whole lot of residential solar systems to maintain, so that they can continue operating optimally.

That’s why HeatSpring instructors Sean White and Keith Rohman have teamed up to create the Residential Solar Service Technician Training Package

First, students will strengthen their understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) as well as relevant building and fire codes with Sean.

Sean diving into the NEC in this course bundle

The NEC is a comprehensive set of electrical safety standards that is designed to protect people and property from electrical hazards. Solar service technicians work with electrical systems, and a thorough understanding of the NEC ensures that they can install, maintain, and repair solar systems in a way that minimizes safety risks. Knowledge of the NEC can expedite troubleshooting processes and lead to quicker and more effective solutions.

Students will then dive into solar service specifics with Keith, including the basics of O&M, safety precautions, service site visit best practices, preventative maintenance measures, and a primary focus on field troubleshooting with real-world residential solar O&M issues and their solutions.

Keith going through real-world issues and their solutions

Learning from Keith, a seasoned solar service expert, allows students to benefit from his insights and expertise which can provide valuable context on common issues and challenges in residential solar service. By sharing his real-world examples, students can gain understanding of complex problem-solving scenarios that they are likely to encounter during their service careers. Learning how Keith has approached and solved these problems can help technicians develop their own problem-solving skills and strategies.

Who should take this course package?

Solar service is highly technical. This course package was designed for experienced solar installers looking to build their skillset into solar operations and maintenance. It’s intended for students who already have a solid foundation of safe solar installation to build upon.
