The NABCEP ESIP Exam Is Now Available in Spanish

NABCEP has announced that the Energy Storage Installation Professional (ESIP) exam is now available in Spanish. For professionals who prefer Spanish and want to demonstrate their expertise in battery storage systems, this is a big step forward.

To take the exam in Spanish, visit the NABCEP exam registration page through Meazure Learning and select the “Spanish” option when enrolling.

Opening the Door for More ESS Professionals

The solar and storage workforce has grown rapidly over the past several years, and a significant portion of that workforce is Spanish-speaking. Offering the ESIP exam in Spanish removes a real barrier for professionals who have the hands-on experience and technical knowledge to earn this credential but may find a high-stakes English-language exam more challenging than the work itself.

NABCEP noted that expanding language access is part of a broader effort to grow a global presence and increase diversity across the solar and PV industry. The ESIP has been a most popular new certification for NABCEP, and making it accessible to more people strengthens the credential and the workforce behind it.

What Is the NABCEP ESIP?

The Energy Storage Installation Professional certification is a board-level credential that validates knowledge and skills across the full lifecycle of battery energy storage systems, from development and design through installation, commissioning, and operations and maintenance.

The exam covers five content domains: Development (15%), Design (25%), Installation (30%), Commissioning (17%), and Operations, Maintenance, and Decommissioning (13%).

To qualify for the exam, candidates need to complete at least 58 hours of advanced energy storage training, hold OSHA 30 for Construction, and document hands-on project experience in a decision-making role. Project credits are based on system size, with smaller scale systems earning 1 credit and utility-scale systems earning up to 3. Candidates need at least 6 project credits from the past two calendar years.

The exam consists of 70 multiple-choice questions with a 4-hour time limit and can be taken at a Meazure Learning test center or via live remote proctoring. The application and exam fees total $500.
