Clean Energy Leadership Institute is Accepting Fellowship Applications Brit Heller Looking for an opportunity to grow your clean energy network while gaining technical knowledge and leadership development? Check out the Clean Energy Leadership Institute’s Fellowship program! The Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) mission is to create a multiracial, diverse, and inclusive organization of change-makers working across sectors and disciplines to drive an equitable, decarbonized, and resilient energy ecosystem. What is the program? The 2022 Fellowship program takes place over 8 months from March to November 2022. Throughout the fellowship, Fellows will join a cohort of up to 40 individuals in a community-of-practice to think critically about energy policy and market structures, examine inequities, identify barriers to clean energy deployment, and develop holistic solutions towards an equitable energy transition. Sessions are taught by thought leaders and expert practitioners in the field. Topics covered include energy justice, energy markets, security and resilience, new technologies, adaptive leadership, and more. Each Fellow will complete a Capstone Project as the culmination of their experience. This can include a written opinion piece, a new business pitch, or an oral presentation. What is the format of the program? The program consists of a 4-month intensive spring, a 2-month summer break for capstone preparation, and subsequent monthly weekend programming in the fall. The program includes an opening orientation, education modules with weekly sessions, monthly leadership development, skills training workshops, and community programming covering relevant topics. What makes the program unique? The CELI Fellowship is specifically designed with mid-career clean energy professionals in mind. Because active professionals teach each of the sessions, the program has a different feel than seemingly similar programs found in universities. Perhaps the most coveted aspect of the Fellowship is the community. At the time of writing, there were 800 professionals in the CELI Fellowship network. Current Fellows and alumni are encouraged to contribute to the CELI community to expand the organization’s mission. Who is eligible? CELI Fellows come from a wide range of career backgrounds, unified by the goal of advancing an equitable, decarbonized, and resilient energy ecosystem. Applicants must meet one of the two following criteria: 3-7 years of professional experience in clean energy5+ years of professional experience in a related field To learn more, head to CELI’s Who Should Apply page. What is the investment? Tuition for the 2022 Fellowship Program is $3,000. Scholarships are available, based on income and other factors. Additionally, CELI offers payment plans where Fellows can pay installments over a 10-month period. Tuition covers the cost of the sessions, workshops, access to CELI platforms, reading materials, and support in the development of the capstone project. In addition to attending weekly and Saturday sessions, Fellows should expect to invest an additional 2-3 hours each week for supplemental reading. For the capstone project, Fellows typically spend at least 20 hours to develop and prepare their final deliverable. How to learn more and apply? If you are interested in learning more about CELI’s Fellowship Program, head over to the 2022 Fellowship page on their website. Applications are due on Friday, January 7, 2022. Candidates will be interviewed by CELI alumni and staff in late January and early February. Fellows will be notified by Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
