Announcing Comprehensive Utility-Scale Solar Engineering Training

Brit Heller Brit Heller

The utility-scale solar sector is booming – solar now represents 64% of all new electricity-generating capacity in the US, with the utility-scale segment installing a record 6.6 GWdc in Q3 2024 alone, up 44% from the previous year (Source: SEIA Market Insight Report Q4 2024). Despite this explosive growth, the industry faces critical bottlenecks. One being that solar developers and EPCs can’t find enough qualified design engineers to keep pace with demand, especially at the senior level.

That’s why we’re excited to announce our new Utility-Scale Solar Engineering bundle, developed in partnership with PVcase. This comprehensive training bundle includes three integrated courses designed to build the next generation of utility-scale solar designers:

This program helps address this critical workforce gap by providing a clear pathway for engineers to enter or advance in the utility-scale solar sector. Whether you’re becoming a utility-scale PV design engineer or already work in this role, you’ll gain valuable skills to enhance your career and contribute to the clean energy transition.

Who Should Take This Program?

We developed this program with two key audiences in mind:

  1. Residential and C&I solar designers who want to level-up for utility-scale projects
  2. Utility-side engineers who are making a transition into the solar industry

What Makes This Program Different?

Our program focuses on practical, real-world utility-scale solar engineering, with an emphasis on projects up to 30-40MWac with interconnection voltages between 12.47-35kV.

Key features include:

  • Direct mentorship from experienced designer John Selby
  • Hands-on learning with PVcase software (1-month trial included)
  • Focus on value engineering rather than just drafting
  • Complete project lifecycle coverage
  • Real-world design examples and applications
