What tools do solar designers use to improve the speed and accuracy of their project designs? This new, free solar design course from Unirac gives you a quick introduction to many of the top solar design tools available.

I’ve always been surprised by the number of different approaches to solar design. Especially residential solar. When you’re starting out there doesn’t seem to be any standard tool that everyone uses. So when the folks at Unirac mentioned this presentation that they gave at the NABCEP CE Conference in 2022, we asked to make it available to a wider audience.

About the Course

In this course we take a look at some of the online solar tools that can help you design better, sell faster, and work smarter.  How you work should help determine what tools you use.  If you are doing your own design and permitting, you may need a more robust design tool that offers structural engineering and installation details.

If you outsource these tasks, you may need tools that focus on sales and proposals.  There are many other factors to consider:  Are your projects Commercial or Residential?  Is your work more Cloud-Based or on a Desktop Computer?  What level of detail do you want?  Do you work in project stages or to meet deadlines?  Any tool is only as good as the data you use.  The more accurate your information, the better your design will turn out.  Of course, each tool is also unique, and some have advantages that others do not.  Courses dedicated to some of these services can be found on this platform, as well as through other online content.  Learning how to access and use them can help you in your work.
