HeatSpring is launching a new course – Solar Energy, PV Modules & Others: Learn Essential Theory with Calculations. This is a comprehensive course for those new to solar or who want to advance their understanding of key components and applied solar calculations.

Join seasoned Professional Engineer and NABCEP-certified PV Installation Professional Asif Khokher as he walks students through the ins and outs of solar energy components and technology. For the past 24 years, Asif has worked as a consultant, engineer, and project manager across the world, from the United States to Saudi Arabia to Germany to China to Nigeria. His area of expertise spans to engineering and design, inspection, commissioning, control systems, SCADA, and more. Today, he is the owner and director of an engineering consultancy firm. Over the years, he has refined his teaching to transfer a sizable amount of conceptual and applied technical knowledge into a comprehensive, consolidated format.

Over the course of 10 video contact hours, students will learn the theory behind solar energy and all of the components utilized within the field, like modules, charge controllers, inverters, and batteries. Complex course content is broken down into manageable, bite-sized videos.

Arguably the best part of the course is the section on applied technical calculation questions, where all theory and solutions are explained to students. This section includes many common types of questions that students might find on professional solar certification exams, like NABCEP.

A few examples include:

  • Calculate voltage drop in a cable
  • Calculate system power based on solar irradiance, module-rated power, and efficiency
  • Calculate the number of batteries required given load data
  • Calculate the size of a breaker at inverter output
  • Calculate the maximum number of modules to be connected in series given system data
  • Plus 30 more
