Very informative and the practice exams really help you to absorb and remember the information that they ask you about on the Exam. Very glad I took it!” – Michael What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten? The best advice I have ever gotten was to sweat the details. Being interested in the little details of my industry has always paid dividends in my career growth. For instance, when I started as a heating and cooling installation helper, I was meticulous about retrieving tools and cleaning the job site. This attention to detail and willingness to learn led me to more complex tasks and eventually to where I am today. What’s a quote you think about often? There is no such thing as a failure. You have success stories and learning opportunities. What was your first job in the industry? My 1st job in the industry was as a heating and cooling installation helper. As a teenager, I would help out senior techs by retrieving tools and cleaning the job site. I did this job after class in high school and in the summertime. How many years have you been in the industry? I have been in the industry for 24 years. What are your hobbies? I am a huge sports fan. I enjoy playing, watching, and talking about sports. I am also an avid moviegoer. I go to the movies at least 4-5 times a month. What’s a fun fact about you that your students don’t know? I competitive weight lift. I like to compete in amateur benching pressing contests. This hobby not only keeps me physically active but also teaches me the value of discipline and perseverance. It’s a great way to challenge myself and push my limits. What is your favorite song at the moment? My favorite song is “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. I always have a positive outlook and see the silver lining in every situation. This song resonates with me because it encapsulates my belief in the power of positivity and the importance of finding joy in the little things. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? If I had to choose one meal to eat for the rest of my life, it would be Detroit-style pizza. The unique blend of flavors and the crispy, cheesy crust never fail to excite my taste buds. I’m truly passionate about it! Anything else you think would be fun to share? One fun fact about me that my students might not know is that I’ve reached a point where I have to cheat to win a foot race against my boys. They are 9 and 8 years old, and I can’t beat them in a fair race anymore. So, when we go for walks, I distract them and take off running to get a head start. It’s these little moments of joy and laughter that make our family life so special. Featured Originally posted on January 23, 2025 Written by Brit Heller Director of Program Management @ HeatSpring.
