At HeatSpring, we celebrate innovative builders and designers who work to improve the overall quality and performance of public and residential buildings…
Our Leaders in High Performance Building Giveaway was created for those who have helped plan, design, construct, and/or operate a high performance building. Entrants could submit a photo of their high performance project(s).* The photo could show the entire high performance building or a feature of the high performance building (systems, etc). We randomly selected a winner in February 2016!
‘Leaders in High Performance Building Giveaway’ entrant: We own this house. I was a solar installer who decided to help those needing assistance for better efficiency. Over a 7-year period (2007-14) we’ve added new outer insulation, attic insulation, both grid tied and battery (non-grid) PV system and both air and water thermal heating. No fossil fuels used to power this house. Our only utility bills are November-February, so we are more than Net “Zero”. Everything from the new roofing to basement insulation is of recycled content. There will be a series of blogs relating to my project on GreenBuildingAdvisor.com in the next few months.
‘Leaders in High Performance Building Giveaway’ entrant: This is a certified DOE Zero Energy Ready Home. It also includes many universal design features and drought-tolerant, Florida-friendly landscaping.
