How to get money for heat pumps in New York Brian Hayden The state of New York wants more heat pump installations, so they created the NY Clean Heat Program. NY Clean Heat pays qualified contractors for every heat pump installation that meets their standards. To participate in the program, you need to become an approved contractor. Here’s a link to the application. Here’s what they will ask for on your application: Documentation of approved contractor training Training for air-to-Water heat pump installations: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 Technician Certification that is appropriate for the size of the system the installer will install AWHP Manufacturer-sponsored Installation Training Certificate (or comparable, including Heatspring’s Application of Air-to-Water Heat Pumps course or Heatspring’s Heat Pump System Design & Installation course Attestation that the installer holds, or will hold, all necessary plumbing licenses for their installation locations Training for ground source heat pump installations contractors A copy of a current (and in good standing) International Ground-Source Heat Pump Association (“IGSHPA”) accredited installer certificate Participating Contractor Agreement NYS Participating Contractor Application IRS Form W-9 Contractor License A certificate of insurance satisfying the requirements outlined in each of the Designated Utilities’ Contractor Participation Agreement How much money? If you’re approved as a participating contractor, here’s how much money you will get for qualifying heat pump installations: For the right companies, a big opportunity Maine has had success with their heat pump incentive programs.
