How can we make heat pump retrofits easier?

WARNING: if you’re a climate-minded clean energy professional, this will be hard to listen to.

This American Life is my favorite podcast, and David Kestenbaum is among my favorite producers on the show. So I was really excited to see a story he produced about getting a heat pump installed at his house. Heat pumps + This American Life! But the excitement dissipated quickly after I hit ‘play’.

Here I’m asking contractors, distributors, and manufacturers. You are the ones I trust to figure this out because utilities and government programs can’t reach customers the way you can.
