Got Talent? HeatSpring Wants to Help You Bring New Employees into Solar Laure-Jeanne Davignon I think we can all agree that the first quarter of 2025 was marked by uncertainty in the U.S. market. We see this in the usual economic indicators, but also in the ‘wait and see’ mood across the industry, as we ride the ‘solar coaster’ we encounter time and again as the political winds blow. Despite this challenge, a quick search of my local job boards in Albany, NY reveals that there is still a lot of hiring going on. From entry level installers and customer service reps to experienced O&M technicians, firms in the area are on the hunt for qualified talent. If you are one of those employers currently hiring, HeatSpring wants to help! We have relationships with partners around the country who are educating and providing support to the next generation of solar employees. Organizations like colleges and high schools, service years (such as AmeriCorps,) DOL ‘one-stops’ and others are looking for employers like you to ensure their training is aligned with your work, and that their graduates have the skills you need. We know it is challenging to find time to grow long-term relationships in your community (or communities) with training providers and others while meeting the demands of operating a business. As the ‘new kids on the block,’ some education can be needed to position solar as an attainable career path. HeatSpring will help by connecting you to our network of partners already looking for companies like yours. If we don’t have someone in our network who can help you yet, we’ll collaborate with you to identify potential partners and facilitate meaningful and productive connections. This is not a job board or recruitment service – rather, employers will be supported in building a workforce ‘ecosystem,’ to cultivate workers with skills you need. This can help with the significant cost of hiring, since you won’t have to start from scratch for each search, and are helping to foster a ready workforce with the skills you need. To get started, you can email me (laurejeanne@heatspring.com) or respond to this two-minute workforce preferences questionnaire.
