2026 Could Be the Best Year of Your Life

Brian Hayden Brian Hayden

Take out a clean sheet of paper and get ready for a pep talk. 2026 will be the best year ever. We live on an incredible planet alongside other smart people who love us. We’ve never had more information or technology with which to make decisions and act.

You have infinite degrees of creative freedom in how you spend your time. So before turning your attention to the challenges we will face in the new year, take out a clean sheet of paper and sketch out the best year you can imagine. Articulate a vision for what you’re aiming for.

A blank sheet of paper can be intimidating, so here are some HeatSpring-related things I’m excited about to get your juices flowing:

The NABCEP Conference in March is an opportunity to deeply connect with the most caring people in the solar industry. I love the NABCEP conference because it’s relatively small and we all eat together in the same space. I always leave feeling more connected to other cool solar people.

We’re sponsoring the Building Performance Institute (BPI) because they have an incredible leader, Amanda Hatherly, with a vision for how we can make buildings more comfortable and efficient.

HeatSpring CORE is a new training program for anyone entering the construction trades. It’s like NCCER CORE, but with an emphasis on safety, industry-recognized certifications, and a common language for first year apprentices in any construction role.

We have a new “Practice Exam” mode that will make studying for exams more fun and generally better. If you’re doing NABCEP prep it will be a solid upgrade.

HeatSpring PRO is a series of learning paths and assessments available at a low cost to learners on a particular mission. In 2026, PRO Teams will be able to use our Skills Assessment tool to see exactly what everybody knows and what they need to learn next.

Electrical apprenticeships are coming. After 18 years in business, we finally have the resources and drive to create foundational curriculum needed to onboard entry level construction tradespeople.

On a more personal note, my kids have never been as mature and capable as they are today. That opens up new possibilities in our relationships and I’m excited to see them continue to make more choices for themselves.

My 47th birthday is coming in January and something like wisdom does actually come with age. I’ve stopped trying to control everything and my ego has almost completely burned off at this point. So I’m excited to roll up my sleeves, work hard, and enjoy whatever journey lies ahead.

Let’s stay curious and keep trying to do things better in 2026. There will be plenty of setbacks to get bummed out about next year, but it’s too early to start thinking about that. Fill that sheet of paper with a proper vision and get to work making it happen. If there’s something I can do to help make that vision come true, I’d love to hear from you.
